ELIZABETH CREEK

LABS

ABOUT ME

Welcome to Elizabeth Creek Labs

Are you new here? Don’t worry so are we! Wow did I hear you GASP? I’m sure that will create all sorts of negative feedback but like it or not EVERY breeder started somewhere!

OUR NAME

It’s a bit of a cute story (well we think it is)

My daughters have always given our pets middle names and Elizabeth has been a constant, we aren’t sure how it came about but its Elizabeth none the less and when you have an adventurous black lab puppy outside for a pee at 2 am and youre calling her and calling her to no avail and finally give in and yell ‘Tikka Eliabeth” as a last ditch effort and the puppy comes running like that’s what you were doing wrong the whole time you just throw your arms up and stick with what works. So when the idea came around to breed her the girls immediately suggested Elizabeth as a “Kennel” name so seeing as just Elizabeth is a bit underwhelming we added the creek to fill in the void and now we are Elizabeth Creek Labs!

It is our intention to hand raise these little puppies until they get to you. They were born in our living room as though they are members of our family(in the whelping box of course because EWW) They are picked up and cuddled and loved a little each day to ensure (hopefully) that they aren’t hand shy, their nails are trimmed and they are weighed and soothed to comfort them, we’ve noticed at week two that a bit of my cleanliness OCD has rubbed off on Tikka, as she seems to be teaching them to pee in the same vicinity, which is absolutely adorable to watch these clumsy little things make their way to the front of the whelping box and pee on the pad, back pat Tikka! Though it is our intention for these puppies to go into hunting homes where they will have a full life of field training and fowl retrieving it is MOST important that they are loved and treated like best friends to everyone in your family too!

Tikka is our dog, she is a CKC registered black lab, her lineage are hunters and she is a professionally trained (lucky shoe retrievers Kamloops) field lab used for waterfowl, we lived in northern BC and there was no need to train her for upland at that time. We also lived in a remote community where field tests were not really accessible and didn’t have the information that we do now, going forward she will definitely be going for her JH ASAP this is a field test that involves 2 water retrieves and 2 land retrieves the rules are pretty loose around the edges so this is a VERY achievable goal for ANY field lab, and then on to the Senior… this will take a bit of work to get her back into the true discipline of the sport. She is a mix of English with a bit of American. She is EIC carrier CNM clear and Eyes Clear

Diesel ‘AKC CKC SH Deep Run Sir Diesel WCX’ I know right quite the handle on this handsome guy.  He belongs to Mr. K Rankin in Sherwood Park AB and we are pretty honored to be makin his babies!  Let me just say, this dog is a competitor to be certain, but he’s out there working for Keith in real life as much as possible and when he comes home he gets to put his feet up and relax. He is 100% English He is EIC clear CNM carrier and Eyes clear.
